Research activities

Our multidisciplinary research group is dedicated to advancing the field of multimodal imaging techniques for clinical applications. Our primary focus is to combine Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at 3 or 7T with other non-invasive tools to deepen our understanding of brain functions. By integrating these modalities, we strive to enhance the clinical workflow and improve the quality of life for patients. Our translational research is centered around three key areas:

EEG/fMRI: development of novel tools to enable the integration of simultaneous EEG and fMRI, particularly in real-time applications such as bimodal neurofeedback. Our goal is to leverage this technology to help patients with attention deficits or epilepsy, facilitating targeted interventions and personalized treatment approaches.

Virtual Reality (VR): combination of VR with MRI to explore alternative solutions to medication for children. Specifically, we seek to employ VR to assist children with attention deficit in regulating their attention and preparing them for MRI examinations without the need for anaesthesia.

Quantitative functional brain mapping: development of new imaging techniques based on MRI perfusion to obtain quantitative mapping of functional brain functions. We aim to optimize patient outcomes by enhancing our ability to accurately delineate critical brain regions for surgical planning.
