Activités de recherche

The Working Memory, Cognition and Development laboratory specializes in the experimental study of working memory in children and adults. Working memory is our ability to retain information over brief periods of time and, as we experience in our daily lives, this ability is extremely limited.

Our research aims to understand (1) why the capacity of working memory is so limited, (2) how and why this capacity develops with age, and (3) how the limited capacity of working memory constrains the complexity of child and adult thinking. Most of our research uses behavioural measures, sometimes combined with brain imaging (e.g., MVPA of fMRI or EEG data). Our laboratory also contributes to large-scale collaborations in the field of psychology, such as Psychological Science Accelerator (https://psysciacc.org/) and initiatives to promote Open Science in the field of psychology, such as the Swiss Open Psychological Science Initiative (https://www.sopsi.org/).
